Romulans/Rihannsu are a diverse species with various skin and hair colors and more or less prominent forehead ridges. Over time, different fashion and hair cut styles evolved as well, were prominent and became outdated after some time. With their Vulcan cousins, Romulans share the pointed ears, and of course, the copper-based green blood.

The Reman (Havrannsu) ancestors were Vulcan like the ancestors of the Romulans. They evolved from a group of the exiles that had chosen to live and work on Ch'Havran and later was forced to remain there. In order to survive the harsh conditions on the tidal locked planet, they genetically engineered themselves. (Sherman/Shwartz novels "Exodus" and "Exiles"). They now have night vision and very pale skin and cannot endure sunlight without protection.
